Explanation of how artifact demonstrates standard: This presentation was prepared to present to a school board as guidance in seeking input from community members to make decisions, create community collaboration, and to counter negative issues that could arise when interacting with disgruntled community members. Significance to professional development: Preparing this powerpoint and presentation provided meaningful insight into the importance of leading school board members in an effort to interact positively with the community and to seek the community’s input to create collaboration. Community buy-in is crucial to implementing and sustaining a school district’s vision (standard 1). |
Artifact 4.BBrief Description of Artifact: Group paper for School Leadership and Community Collaboration course
Explanation of how artifact demonstrates standard: Superintendents must collaborate with faculty and community members to respond to diverse community interests and needs, build positive relationships with families and community partners. This document represents the collaborative effort of our group to provide a summer program for at-risk students that will also implement supports for families and caregivers while forming partnerships with other community organizations. Significance to professional development: This was important to my professional development because it provided insight about the real summer program I was preparing in my own district. |

Parent Presentation for Federal Programs Explanation of how artifact demonstrates standard: Standard 4, as well as Federal guidelines, require district leaders to make sure that district programs are communicated to the community. This powerpoint was created to be shared at Family Involvement Nights held at school sites throughout the District where information about Title I was shared. Significance to professional development: I created the presentation to be shared with our families and parent stakeholders to communicate essential information about Title I programs in our schools. At the end of the powerpoint, parents were given time to participate in a question/answer session to give more information about their own specific concerns. |
